King Norodom Sihamoni Named Associate Member of French Academy of Overseas Sciences
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 5, 2025) — King Norodom Sihamoni has been admitted as an associate member of the Academy of Overseas Sciences in Paris, the Royal Palace announced, marking a significant recognition of Cambodia’s growing role in international scholarship and cultural diplomacy.
Acting Head of State Samdech Hun Sen, president of the National Assembly, congratulated the King, calling the honour a testament to His Majesty’s “distinguished reputation” and a source of pride for Cambodia at both national and international levels.
In a formal message, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed joy and extended wishes for the King’s continued health, vitality and success in his new role.
Founded in France, the Academy of Overseas Sciences is a prestigious institution that recognises contributions to research and global knowledge exchange. The King’s induction underscores Cambodia’s expanding presence in academic and cultural circles abroad.
King Sihamoni left for Paris on Dec. 1 to attend meetings at the Academy of Sciences, with his visit scheduled through Dec. 6.
