Cambodia’s Leadership Rallies Behind King Sihamoni as PM Voices Concern
PHNOM PENH, April 19, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s leadership has expressed solidarity and concern for King Norodom Sihamoni, who is undergoing medical treatment in Beijing, with Prime Minister Hun Manet leading national well-wishes for the monarch’s recovery.
In a message released Saturday, Hun Manet said he was deeply concerned after learning the King is receiving treatment for prostate cancer requiring surgery. His Majesty remains under monitoring at a Beijing hospital.

Speaking on behalf of the government, civil servants, armed forces and citizens, the premier extended prayers and moral support, expressing confidence in the King’s recovery under the care of specialized medical teams. “We firmly believe that, with the highest level of attention from expert doctors, His Majesty will achieve a successful recovery,” the statement said.
The message underscored the monarchy’s role as a unifying symbol of national identity and stability. Senior officials and ministries have issued similar notes of concern and support, reflecting a broad outpouring of solidarity during the King’s treatment abroad.
