Cambodian and Thai Border Officials Plan Joint Survey and Temporary Marker Installation

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov. 18, 2025) — Cambodian and Thai technical teams met Tuesday at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint to plan the implementation of newly approved technical instructions under the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).

A senior official from Cambodia’s Secretariat of Border Affairs said the meeting followed endorsement of the guidelines by the JBC of both countries. Leaders of the Cambodian and Thai technical operations groups convened to outline steps for carrying out the instructions in line with the spirit of the agreement.

As part of the process, joint survey teams from both sides will inspect locations and oversee the installation of temporary boundary markers between posts 42 and 47. The area lies within Ou Beichan commune, Ou Chrov district of Banteay Meanchey province in Cambodia, and Sakaeo province in Thailand.

Officials said the temporary markers are being placed in accordance with the outcomes of the Cambodia–Thailand JBC meeting held Oct. 21–22, 2025. The effort is intended to ensure clarity along the border while longer-term demarcation work continues.

The Secretariat of Border Affairs emphasized that the cooperation reflects the two governments’ commitment to resolving boundary issues peacefully through technical coordination and joint responsibility.
