Thai delay pushes Cambodia–Thailand border talks to Nov. 18
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.17, 2025) — A joint technical meeting on border demarcation between Cambodia and Thailand has been postponed to Nov. 18 after Thai authorities delayed sending official instructions related to the installation of temporary markers between border posts 42 and 47, Cambodian officials said.
A senior official from Cambodia’s Secretariat of Border Affairs said the delay was not caused by Phnom Penh. Cambodia only received the Thai directive through the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh on the morning of Nov. 17, the official added.
Under prior agreement, Thailand was required to send its approval of the technical instructions so Cambodia could respond formally. Cambodian officials said Thailand’s late transmission disrupted the schedule and rejected claims that Phnom Penh was responsible for the one-day delay.
The technical meeting, originally planned for Nov. 17, will now take place Nov. 18.
