Chea Serey Welcomes New UNDP Representative to Cambodia
Phnom Penh, Cambodia (Sept 09, 2025)— Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, welcomed Enrico Gaveglia, the new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representative to Cambodia, during a meeting on the afternoon of Sept. 8, 2025, at the National Bank’s Wat Phnom building.

During the meeting, Serey warmly congratulated Gaveglia on his appointment and praised the strong collaboration between the National Bank of Cambodia and UNDP in recent years. She highlighted their joint research efforts, high-level conferences, and various support initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable finance and economic development.
Dr.Serey also expressed her commitment to further strengthening cooperation with UNDP.
Gaveglia expressed his enthusiasm for working in Cambodia and his determination to enhance the partnership between UNDP and the National Bank on several key initiatives. He emphasized the importance of both institutions collaborating on policies that promote the use of local currency, green finance, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The two officials agreed to prepare for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future to further strengthen and expand their collaboration.
In a statement on her official social media, Dr.Serey wrote, “It was a pleasure welcoming the new UNDP representative Enrico Gaveglia to Cambodia. NBC and UNDP have had close collaboration and made joint research on sustainable finance, use of local currency, and the welfare of the people, to name a few. We look forward to continuing collaboration under Mr. Gaveglia’s new leadership.”
