PHNOM PENH, Feb 18, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has said his country will not recognise any attempt to alter its borders by force or accept what he described as the illegal occupation of its territory by Thai troops.

Speaking to Reuters in Washington on Tuesday, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet accused Thai forces of remaining inside Cambodian territory despite a ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump in December.

He urged Bangkok to allow the Joint Boundary Commission to resume demarcation work in disputed areas.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet alleged Thai troops were present beyond boundary lines unilaterally claimed by Thailand, adding that the situation remained “fragile” despite the truce that ended renewed clashes late last year.

According to Cambodia, cross border fighting erupted twice in 2025, in July and December, displacing civilians and damaging property.

Cambodia says Thai forces have since installed barbed wire, shipping containers and trenches, and demolished homes in contested zones.

Officials said Cambodia has lodged repeated protests and reaffirmed its commitment to defend territorial integrity under international law.
