PHNOM PENH, April 2, 2026 (KPT) – Senate president Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to a peaceful and flexible resolution of its border dispute with Thailand, officials said Thursday, during talks with Singapore’s newly appointed ambassador.

Samdech Techo made the remarks at the Unity Palace while receiving Pang Chee Wee, who presented his credentials as Singapore’s ambassador to Cambodia.

Senate spokesman Chea Thyrith said Samdech Techo Hun Sen congratulated the envoy and praised Singapore’s swift diplomatic appointment as a sign of strong bilateral ties.

Pang highlighted the long standing relationship between Cambodia and Singapore, noting the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

He pledged to deepen cooperation in diplomacy, trade, investment and tourism, while encouraging more Singaporean investment in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the commitment, citing frequent high level visits between the two nations, including his own trip to Singapore in 2024 and the Singaporean prime minister’s visit to Phnom Penh in 2025. He also thanked Singapore for supporting human resource development.

On the Cambodia Thailand border issue, Samdech Techo stressed that Cambodia seeks a long term ceasefire and remains flexible in pursuing peaceful negotiations under existing bilateral mechanisms.

He concluded by wishing the ambassador success in advancing Cambodia Singapore relations during his tenure.
