Cambodia and U.S. DFC to Explore Cooperation on Infrastructure and Energy

PHNOM PENH, June 22, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation will explore major cooperation in infrastructure, energy transition and logistics development following high‑level talks in Phnom Penh, officials said Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who is also First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, met DFC Chief Policy Officer Caroline Vik at the CDC headquarters.

Mines and Energy Minister Keo Rottanak and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Benjamin Chiang also attended the meeting.

According to a CDC statement, both sides agreed to examine feasibility studies for energy infrastructure and green energy projects, alongside large‑scale initiatives such as expressway development, port expansion and Cambodia’s long‑term intermodal transport and logistics master plan for 2023‑2033.

Chanthol said these projects are national priorities for economic growth and regional connectivity, while expressing appreciation for DFC’s support in financing infrastructure linked to Techo International Airport.

Vik welcomed Cambodia’s development agenda, saying it aligned with DFC’s mission to support strategic infrastructure and strengthen resilient global supply chains.

She indicated readiness to advance feasibility studies as a first step toward possible investment frameworks.

Officials described the talks as constructive and reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement, with the aim of translating discussions into concrete cooperation projects.
