Senate President to Visit China for Talks with Xi Jinping and Senior Leaders

PHNOM PENH, June 24, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen will pay an official visit to China from June 25 to 27, where he is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping and other senior leaders, the Senate Secretariat said Tuesday.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who also serves as president of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, will lead a high‑level delegation at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.
The group includes Tea Banh, personal adviser to King Norodom Sihamoni and CPP vice‑president, along with senior figures from Cambodia’s legislature and government.
During the three‑day visit, Samdech Techo Hun Sen will meet Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China, as well as Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
He will also pay a royal audience to King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, who are currently in China.
The Senate Secretariat said the trip would reaffirm Cambodia and China’s “ironclad friendship” and expand cooperation under their comprehensive strategic partnership.
China is Cambodia’s largest trading partner and a major source of investment, with ties spanning politics, economics and culture.
The visit underscores Phnom Penh’s continued alignment with Beijing as the two countries deepen political and economic relations.
