Cambodia Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy on Child Labour at Global Summit in Morocco

MARRAKESH, Morocco, Feb. 13, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on child labour and forced labour at the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, stressing its commitment to youth employment and skills development.

From February 11 to 13, Sous Sinoun, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, led a Cambodian tripartite delegation to the summit hosted by Morocco in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO). The event gathered around 1,200 representatives from governments, employers’ groups and trade unions worldwide.

Speaking under the theme “Decent Work for Youth,” Sinoun underscored Cambodia’s political will to eradicate child labour, citing close cooperation with the ILO and partners through structured social dialogue. She emphasized strict enforcement of national laws and a firm “zero tolerance” approach.

The delegation also highlighted efforts to expand education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, equipping young people with market-relevant skills to secure sustainable employment. Officials said strengthening youth opportunities is key to preventing child labour and ensuring long-term economic resilience.

The conference concluded with renewed global pledges to intensify coordinated action against child labour and to advance decent work standards worldwide.
